- SIMBAD (Set of Identifications, Measurements, and Bibliography for Astronomical Data.)This is hosted by the CDS, Centre de Données astronomiques de Strasbourg - Strasbourg astronomical Data Center. The SIMBAD astronomical database provides basic data, cross-identifications and bibliography for astronomical objects outside the solar system. Contains information for about 16 million objects, with 59 million identifiers, 419,000 references and almost 34 million citations of objects in papers.

"The VizieR Information System provides a standardized description of astronomical catalogues, and generally a free access to the data contained therein, essentially dedicated to a scientific usage."
